Social Enterprise Qualification

International Partnerships

As part of our ambition to ensure that the Social Enterprise Qualification becomes the leading qualification for the social enterprise sector across the world, we are actively engaging with a range of educational, youth and social enterprise organisations and bodies globally.

During the pilot phase of SEQ we worked closely with organisations in Uganda and China.

Our international partners bring local knowledge and connections, capacity and infrastructure ‘on the ground’ and experience and knowledge of the sector.

Uganda

The Private Education Development Network (PEDN), www.pedn.org

Founded by Ashoka Fellow Irene Mutumba in 2004, PEDN is a non profit organisation promoting youth empowerment through entrepreneurial and business skills programmes in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions in Uganda.

PEDN's mission is ‘to facilitate the development of young people's creative and innovative potential by equipping them with entrepreneurship skills and business education’.

With PEDN’s support, SEQ was trialled at silver level with the Girls Empowered to Empower (GEE) youth group and at Bronze level with two Scout groups.

Educate! www.experienceeducate.org

Educate!'s mission is to educate and empower the next generation of socially responsible leaders in Africa through a mix of social entrepreneurship and leadership courses, long term mentoring and an alumni programme to support students to start enterprises. Today, Educate! is working with 1,400 young people across Uganda.

Working with Educate! groups of students in six schools were put through SEQ Bronze level.

China

Jiaxing Education Bureau

A vocational school in Jiaxing, a city in the Zhejiang province of Eastern China, the Education Bureau's teachers and pupils worked through the SEQ pilot in 2011 with great success.

We particularly welcome interest from organisations which are working with learners anywhere in the world with a commitment to working towards social change and environmental sustainability.
